Children's Literature Awards

  • Laura Ingalls Wilder Medal - Presented once every three years to an author or illustrator whose books, published in the United States, have made, over a period of years, a substansial and lasting contribution to literature for children.
  • Jane Addams Book Award - http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/library/youth_adda.htm - Presented to the book that most effectively promostes the cause of peace, social justice and world community. Announced each year on September 6th, Jane Addams' birthdate.
  • Notable Children's Trade Books in the Field of Social Studies - http://www.socialstudies.org/resources/notable/ - This annual annotated book list is created by the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) in cooperation with the Children's Book Council (CBC). Bibliographies for K-8 books are available.
  • The Outstanding Science Trade Books for Students K- 12- http://www.nsta.org/ostbs03 - Awarded annually for outstanding science trade books.
